Phase Transfer Catalysts

Tetrabutyl Ammonium Hydrogen Sulphate

TBAHS — quaternary ammonium phase transfer catalyst and widely used ion-pair chromatography reagent.

Tetrabutyl ammonium hydrogen sulphate (TBAHS, tetrabutylammonium bisulfate) is a versatile quaternary ammonium salt used as an efficient phase transfer catalyst in biphasic alkylations, oxidations and esterifications. Because of its lipophilic cation and acidic bisulfate anion, it is also widely employed as an ion-pairing reagent in reverse-phase HPLC and chromatography. Assay, purity grade and packing confirmed upon enquiry.
